Antarctica 1993
In January of 1993, we took the trip of a lifetime to Antarctica.
We flew to Punta Arenas, Chile, and boarded the 400 passenger Ocean Princess
for a 14 day cruise via the Falkland Islands to the Antarctica peninsula
and back to Cape Horn and up the Beagle Channel.
Although the Ocean Princess was a luxury cruise ship, there were naturalists
on board to interpret the natural wonders of the seventh continent;
the totally awesome scenery and wildlife quickly eclipsed the cruise ship
glitz and food. Inflatable Zodiac boats allowed for frequent shore excursions
to get up close to the penguins and ice.
The trip was like being in a National Geographic special. Here are a few of
the pictures from our voyage. Click on a picture to enlarge it.
